The Better Way To Manage Receipts
There is, however, a way more easier and faster way to manage your receipts. You’ll only need three things: An active Evernote account, the DocScanner app, and a smartphone or a tablet running iOS or Android.
For those who don’t know yet, Evernote is a suite of software and services designed for notetaking and archiving. DocScanner is a document scanner app for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Mac with the shortest path from scanning to archiving.
So Here’s How To Do It
First, install Evernote to your device and set up your Evernote account. Once you have your account set up, create a notebook for your receipts.
Install DocScanner and set it to send scanned receipts to your Evernote notebook. In Evernote, you can create multiple notebooks, and designate one or more for your accounting related documents. You can then share the notebooks with your accountant if you want.
The scanned receipt will appear in the shared notebook right after you’ve scanned it. Now the receipt is ready to be processed by your accountant. Evernote even makes it possible to comment and tag everything you scan and send to your accountant, making it easy to categorize and search your receipts.
Both you and your accountant will be happier and more productive when receipts and documents are scanned and organized into Evernote with DocScanner. Evernote is a cross-platform application, so the scanned documents can be viewed on any Evernote compatible device – smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. Smart, easy, and productive.

I’d like to suggest some version 5 features that need to be added to version 6:
a) First, the function of ask a confirmation before deleting a document;
b) Second, the function that lets you change the size of the scanned document (because all documents that are scanned in the current version stay in whole page, and this is very bad);
c) Third, the function that permit we choose what scanned documents we want to send to dropbox or evernote (because if the dropbox or evernote is activated in app, all documents are automatically send without our authorization, and there are documents that we want to send, some not). I think the specific function (send to dropbox or evernote) can be added in the same screen that allow us to save the document as a pdf file, sendo to email, etc.
d) Fourth, the function that permit us to return to the original scanned image, if the scanned page was not good, so that we can begin the procedure.
Please, consider this suggestions.
Thanks.
Thank you Bruno for your suggestions.
Yes, please, go back, to Version 5…
Thank you for your message Max. Most of DocScanner 5 functionality is available in DocScanner 6. The coming update 6.0.3 adds support for Google Drive and WebDAV. If you wish to go back to 5, check your iTunes backup: iTunes -> Library -> Apps.
Hello: There is a new smart phone/tablet accessory that complements Docscanner called ScanJig.
ScanJig is an innovative accessory that holds a smart phone or smart tablet in the correct position as you change document pages. The product works the Docscanner app to increase productivity and quickly capture high quality page images with accurate size and format.
This really helps when creating documents for OCR or searchable PDFs.
Thank you for your message Patrick. I know there are accessories available such as the ScanJig. In fact, I’ve been planning a blog post about accessories one can use with smartphones and tablets when scanning with DocScanner. I need to keep ScanJig in mind.
Hello Jori: I just posted a News Release on the ScanJig website. The solution does allow Docscanner to capture better images for OCR.
hi
Why are some docs synced to my evernote account and others dont?
Thank you for your question ori! Do you have enough monthly usage left in your Evernote account? The free account has 60 MB/month currently and the premium one 1 000 MB/month.
do you license your ocr sdk?
this would be a great tool for something we need at my company for an internal enterprise application.
How do I turn off PDF? I like to get my scans as JPG and I can only seem to get PDFs via the automatic upload. The only way to get a JPG is to email it or open it in Dropbox and then upload and that is a pain. I have no need for PDFs that are just embedded JPGs.
Thank you for your question Brad. Currently DocScanner saves all scanned documents as PDF by default. In coming updates, we will probably add an option for saving scanned documents as JPG.
Hi, I have a similar issue where some items aren’t uploading to Evernote / Dropbox and others are… Doc Scanner keeps telling me the internet connection appears to be offline, even when I’m standing in the middle of a WiFi zone. Why would it not recognise the internet connection? Do I need to be scanning the items while connected to the internet?
Thank you for you question Duncan. You told that DocScanner can’t connect to the internet. Can you connect to the internet with any other app, Safari, Youtube or Google Maps?
Yes, everything else seems to work fine.
Can you say exactly which scans are not uploading to Evernote/Dropbox? Those scanned offline or those scanned online (with internet/wifi connection on)?
I purchased this app thinking I could scan directly from using my minolta all in one. It doesn’t work. I have to scan in to the desktop and then drag into the app. From there I send to Evernote. It’s easier just to scan in to desktop and then drag into evernote. Any ideas?
Thanks for your comment Bryan. Which version of DocScanner are you using? (iOS/Android/Mac)
