The solution:
If you get white screen with title “Loading …” when accessing the album, you need to go to iPhone Settings and enable “Location Services” for Docscanner. If DocScanner is not listed in Location Services settings, go back to DocScanner and create one document with camera.

• Fixed camera freeze bug when standard image picker was enabled
• Fixed bug: if camera roll has hundreds of photos, it took long time to load thumbnails
• Document can be named before scanning

This bug will be fixed immediately, but it takes some time to appear on the App Store. Meanwhile, please do not activate the Standard image picker in the settings, as the application will freeze when scanning an image. Before the upcoming bug fix, please deactivate the mentioned option.

Please be patient, as the problem will be fixed shortly.

5.0 is a major update with major usability re-design including:

• New faster and simplified scanning process: Select the type of document, where to send to it and what file format to use.
• Batch scanning, select multiple photos at once.
• Configurable e-mail recipients makes e-mailing faster. No need to write e-mail address, subject and message every time you send a document.
• Send plain text documents. (OCR requires high quality photos for good results)
• Special image processing for business cards and receipts

Michael Grothaus wrote the first review on TUAW.com about the DocScanner Mac. The DocScanner Mac has also got a video review from AppVideoReview, which gives you a glimpse of whats coming. The version on the video review didn’t have the option for OCR, but it’s definetly on the menu.

Setup:

1. Go to “Settings”
2. Choose “Add Evernote Account”
3. Enter your Evernote account’s username and password (you can also set a custom name for you account, by changing the “Description”)
4. Choose “Save”

After you’ve made the settings right, you should test the connection, by selcting the “Test Connection” -button. If there’s a problem with the connection, please double check your account info.

In action:

1. Go to “Documents”
2. Select a specific document or selected pages of a document
3. Choose “Send -button”
4. Choose specific Evernote account

Note:
Evernote will recognize the text within documents, if you’ve OCR’d the PDF-documents or if it’s in JPG -format. If you send a JPG-file to Evernote, you can search for words within the documents, but you cannot select & copy it. If you want to copy the text, you need to run the OCR for the document and then send it as a PDF-file to Evernote.

Brightness and contrast sliders
In the early versions users had to press a button to update the adjustemts with the sliders, but now the sliders work in realtime and you can see the results as you make adjustments.

Paper size adjustment
This bugfix enables users adjust what the function actually was ment for. Before this, the adjustment was overridden and the result wasn’t correct.

Google Docs and the Dropbox .pdf extension
There has been reported issues with this one, but now the documents will have the .pdf extension and opens as a pdf -file.
