sometimes i receive a “pdf error 1054″ when trying to mail as a pdf.
how about that?
any ideas yet?
Sorry to tell you we still have not been able to reproduce this. So for the moment we have only guesses. One guess is that there might be some problem with OpenGL. Are you running some games or other apps that make use of the OpenGL? Do you get the error after rebooting the iPhone? We are working hard to find and fix this nasty bug, but for now it is difficult since the bug does not crash DocScanner and therefore we don’t get any crash reports.
I have received exactly the same error when trying to save to iDisk.
Is there any project to have an Android DocScanner?
Yes there is. We are happy to tell you that we are working on it and we will release it soon. (In a month or so.)
I hit problems when emailling pdfs of scanned till receipts. I can capture the image ok – the size comes up as a custm size e.g. 732 pixels by 1600 pixels. I email the PDF to my mobileme account, and on my macbook pro (leopard) Preview says that it can’t open the file because it is “corrupt or an unrecognised format”. Acrobat Reader 9.1.3 reports a similar error. Doc Scanner is otherwise great and seems to cope with A4 scans ok. Also FWIW I get the same problem with JotNot trying to open scanned till receipts. Can you advise? All in the Doc Scanner app is far superior in quality to JotNot.
Hi Pete,
What is the size of the attached PDF? Can you send JPGs? We are unable to get the same error, but it sounds like there might be some problem with the SMTP server. Are you using smtp.me.com or something else?
Where’s the love for Windows Mobile users??? We want it too!
Hi,
Thanks for the comment. I’ll guess we are comming up with Windows Mobile version at some point in the future.
I just purchased DocScanner. I scanned a photo from my photos album and sent it to myself in an email but there was nothing attached. Can you help me please?
Are you using iPhone or S60?
Hi,
I’m having the same issue. Using iPhone 3.0x. I think the document is too large – I now have two other documents like that and there are problems with these too.
Alternatively, is there a way to transfer them to my PC?
We just added WIFI-Share feature. Hope this helps.
Hello,
You are working on a Portuguese(Brazilian) translation also? (iPhone)
Hi,
We have Portuguese translation and it will be added to DocScanner 2.0.1
Hi,
DocScanner sent an email without the document attached. Maybe it was too big. Anyway, now I’m trying to retreive it from the documents folder to my computer but I don’t know how to access it. Can you explain me? I’m using windows.
Thanks
Hi,
I am unable to delete entries of folder of documents in the application and pls advise me. It is noted the document inside folder can be deleted but the folder was not successfully deleted.
You can delete documents by swiping them in the list just like in mail. The next release UI will be more intuitive.
Any update on an app for android 2.0? Just switched from iphone and really want this app back.
We just released DocScanner 1.0 for Android!
Very useful mobile business application, great for sales peoples!
My hint: Photograph docs not too near, so that the document shape (for example size A4) for the automatic conversion photo to PDF is well recognizable.
For example: All original documents like contracts, notes are immediately hold of PC as printable PDF, works as very simply personal customer archive.
Have used the program personally many times, works very well!
Any plans on developing this app for the WebOS platform?
Currently we are not developing on WebOS, but in future we want to be on all of the platforms.
Now that OCR function has been implemented, could you add the feature to create searcheable PDFs? Searcheable documents only inside iPhone app is quite useless.
Then you could simplify and speed up the procedure to add multiple pages in a docs (as some competitors app).
Anyway, that’s a great and usefull app.
THX and merry Christmas!
Thanks Gufo,
We are working on that. It will be eventually implemented, but we wont to make it right first.
Merry Xmas!
I was going to ask for searchable pdfs outside of the app also, but see you are doing it. THANKS. That will take this app to the next level – Will beat Evernote for me as I scan and send to iDisk for storage anyway.
Thanks for the updates – was nervous to buy this app as now demo available – but very glad I did! Can’t wait for searchable pdfs!!
Hi,
I just wrote a post about this.
Best,
Tuomas
Also – it would be really cool if it was possible to navigate iDisk to select different locations to upload to. Folders within Doc Scanner would also be useful.
Thanks for the app and good luck with future developments!
Will you be creating functionality to send pdf’s directly to Dropbox any time soon?
Hi, we have heard you and this is in our roadmap. We will create such an feature as soon as we have time. Sorry for making you wait.
I recently bought the docscanner 3.0. Why are my iPhone 3G scanned pdf documents blur?
The biggest issue when scanning documents is the light. Under dark lightning conditions DocScanner wont do best job. Also, With 3G shooting too close to document is an issue.
Is DocScanner able to recongnise TRADITIONAL CHINESE?
Sorry, for now, it is not, only Latin alphabets. In future we will do our best to add Japanese and traditional chinese.
How about importing Or scanning multiple images from the photo album in one step. Some agree e ts are so long that it becomes difficult to scan one page at a time.
Hi,
Thanks for pointing that out. We will make it possible soon. We just have to improve automatic edge detection before that.
Have been using DocScanner for a while and consistantly find it better than alternative applications. I have just done a quick comparison review against JotNot Scanner which you can find at: http://www.shinyreview.com/2010/01/07/docscanner-vs-jotnot-scanner/
Needless to say, DocScanner is the winner!
Thanks for the review James!
Hello!
Thank you for this amazing app!
I do have a couple of questions, though:
1. How difficult would it be to make it possible to combine several scanned pages into one – without going via the photo album? (e.g. add a third option “DocScanner” to the menu which comes up when I press the +-button)
2. How about reordering pages with a document?
3.) Is there a way to rotate a scanned image (e.g. scanning a receipt in “portrait mode” to use camera resolution to its best and then rotate by 90degrees to “landscape mode” to make it readable in the final document)
4. How about several folders to categorize scanned documents?
Again, thank you for a great application,
Rene
How about making the document name searchable. Or is it? Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it doesn’t work in mine.
Hi,
You are so right! We’ll upload a new version today and this is one of the improvements.
Could I use docscanner to upload file to Dropbox? That is a good internet-storge service.
I would like to see DropBox upload too! That way I can automatically spread (a.k.a. backup) the files to multiple machine of mine. Huge deal for me. Thanks!
I purchased DocScanner on the 15 December 2009 and before I had a chance to transfer it to my PC it was removed from my iphone. How do I reinstall it?
Hi,
If you bought it from the App Store you should be able to “buy” it again. You will not be charged.
I use DocScanner to capture receipt images and then send them to Evernote where I organize them into expense claims. This works great, except that the receipt images print out HUGE — they all span more than one page. How about some way to give an estimate on a dimension of the original, have DocScanner then set the dpi accordingly, so that Evernote will print it out at something near the proper size. This is a major aggravation in what is otherwise a fantastic combination.
Is there any plans to include upload to google documents ?
Yes, it is on our roadmap, but I cannot say exact date yet. We will next make full sync feature for Evernote, iDisk and Dropbox. After that add support Google docs and other popular services.
Really great app!! Does an amazing job on all sorts of documents. In reading some comments I would suggest cleaning the camera lense with soft cotton or something – very crucial to a good picture and scan and especially OCR!
I use it for many business documents but I would REALLY like to scan business cards and then do OCR and import them into Outlook like the “CardScan” system does.
It’s really close to having the capabilities of doing this because for now I can copy the PDF.
Thanks again for the excellent work on this brilliant App!
Once again I am glad I have the iPhone!
Fred
Hi there, I am not sure about a feature: can the scanned text be copied (partially or completely)? And: yes, also grayscale would be very much appreciated. Regards.
Hi, not yet but we will add the feature in future.
I purchased Docscanner 1.0 for Android, and it only force quits on me when I try to scan an image. If I use the camera function, I get a force quit. Also, if I import an existing photo, once I attempt the “scan” I get a force quit message.
I can’t wait for this app to work. It will mean I can stop carrying my iPhone.
Thanks!
Hi,
I’m sorry to hear you are having problems. We will do our best to find and fix the problem ASAP.
Best,
Tuomas
FWIW, I have a Nexus One. If you need any diagnostic info from me, let me know. You have my contact info. Once this is working, I’m going to recommend to all my road-warrior co workers that they buy this app.
Thanks in advance Brent,
We will try to re-produce the problem. It might be that some of the C code we use for image processing might have problems with Nexus One.
hi, I created a pdf document of 4 pages, 3 black and white and one color. I indicized them but when I try to email the file I get:
Error
PDF error(1050).
when I receive the file on the Mac it’s another document I created!!!
I explain better. I have two documents:
- sky (1 page)
- lost (4 pages)
if I send SKY everything goes well. if I send LOST I get the error and SKY is sent, even if the name of PDF is LOST. on iPhone all works well, indicization, search, etc. I can open LOST document and see all the 4 pages.
could you help me? thanks
Hi,
There was a bug in 3.0.3 and it was fixed in 3.0.4. The problem was that sometimes OCR created characters out of page area. All you need to do is to update.
